A few weeks ago, while parked at as a gas station, a very large pickup truck parked behind me hit my rear bumper and caused damage to the bumper and rear right panel. The Driver has GEICO insurance. The police came and wrote an accident report. The pickup driver claimed responsible.
I took the car the Mena's Coachworks and 2-1/2 weeks later the car was finished (like new). The repair cost was $4,600, which GEICO paid without any issues. Their Adjuster (who I met at the shop) was extremely helpful.
I had heard that certain cars, especially 25+ year old Corvettes could obtain further compensation, under "Diminished Value". After I picked of the car (and not before - very important point), I sent the Claim's Adjuster the following, "This vehicle is a fiberglass performance vehicle with collector interest and accident history materially affects resale value. I am requesting GEICO's diminished value evaluation." I did some research and if they paid $1,000 (if anything) I would be lucky. THEY PAID $2,500.
